Bureau of Justice Statistics

Presents data on the number and characteristics of prisoners under sentence of death in the US, and the movement of prisoners into and out of death sentence status. Data are from an annual survey conducted by the Census Bureau for the Bureau of Justice Statistics conducted as part of the National Prisoner Statistics program (NPS-8). Survey participants are the corrections departments of every jurisdiction authorizing capital punishment
