This dataset presents trends in the percent of persons who under Federal guidelines are considered to be at a healthy weight (normal), overweight, or obese based on self-reported weight and height from 1993 to 2006 (two or three year moving averages), by State, sex, race-Hispanic origin, and age. The data are from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS). BRFSS was designed to collect state-level data through telephone surveys. State public health departments are collaborators with CDC in producing these data. These surveys sample the non-institutionalized resident population 18 years of age and over.
