Cholesterol
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

This dataset presents trends in the percent of persons who had either high cholesterol or borderline high cholesterol based on measured serum cholesterol level during the years 1988-1994 and 1999-2004, by sex, race-Hispanic origin, and age. The data are from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). NHANES is a national survey designed to collect information on the health and nutritional status of the U.S. civilian noninstitutionalized population through in-home interviews and physical examinations. The health examination is performed in a mobile exam center (MEC) where many tests are performed. Starting in 1999, the NHANES has been conducted continuously. More detailed information regarding NHANES can be found at http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nhanes.htm.
