GDP is updated monthly. Advance estimates from the first month of the current quarter provide the first data from the previous quarter. Preliminary and final estimates from the second and third quarters of the current month, respectively, are estimates of the previous quarter based on more comprehensive and revised data. For example, the advance estimate from the first month of Q3 is the first estimate for Q2. The Q2 estimates will be revised preliminary and final estimates in the second and third months of Q3. BEA provides data release dates annually; however, those dates are always subject to revision.
